Why are the people not happy who think positive thoughts constantly?

It does not work like this. Happiness is not something to happen to me, it is something I achieve by being and acting happy. I can achieve   this by doing the following:

  1. Do not allow any outwards experience to determine how you think about yourself: stand outside of the picture. Instead of moaning, whining, complaining, gossiping etc. react positively, move on to next deal. You never see failures as failures, you just figured out what does not work. Every human being is presented with challenges and obstacles. It is only important how you react to them.
  2. Ask questions: your mind is designed to find the fastest way to a solution, to spend the least effort and follow the path of least resistance. The brain cannot ignore questions. The trick is to format the question to get by the conscious mind walls. Ask:  “What else is possible?” “What have I not yet considered?”   “How can I ever spend so much money?” “How can I make this a reality?”  “What if I were successful at my goals – who would that look  like?” Constantly ask:  “What else is possible?”

The subconscious mind cannot ignore this. Ask best in half sleep or just prior to sleep when your subconscious mind is most receptive.

  1. Live in the present: this has become very “en vogue” in recent years.  “Live in the Now” and it is true. The key is just to become aware of where your thoughts are and to bring them back to the present moment. Use any technique which suits you, focusing on your breath works for instance. Experience the present  like in your happiest events, like making love because the energy was in the moment. Get intense pleasures from just living. Focus, don’t think, and don’t try, just do it!  Then your subconscious autopilot will steer you in the right direction.
  2. Link your happiness to your self-image: make it a choice you pick, focus on the details of the moment, affirm life, and keep a “yes” attitude. You spend hours in the gym, why not also train your mind?  Garbage in, garbage out – it’s the same with your mind. Create a habit of being happy all the time for no reason. Resolve that you want to be best you can be. See yourself as happy, confident, beautiful, energized, healthy, passionate, peaceful, loving…and act accordingly.  Your mind cannot tell the difference between an actual event and just imagination and will attract the very situations, events and people into your life to make it happen.
